A huge thank you to Diane and Will for a brilliant fundraiser hike! We want to say an enormous thank you to Diane and her son Will, who recently completed an incredible fundraiser hike in support of London Autism Group Charity. Starting at Seahouses on the Northumberland coast, Diane and Will took on the pilgrim's crossing all the way to Holy Island (Lindisfarne). We're so amazed by them for seeing it through. What makes this even more special is that Diane did this to support the work we do. That kind of generosity means more to us than words can express. Sunday 4th October we are holding our monthly Community Cafe drop-in at the wonderful Community House, in Grays, Essex. RM17 6DR. Our sessions are held on the first Sunday of every month at 2pm - 4pm. The Community Cafes provide a safe, inclusive, accessible and free space for the entire Autistic community to meet up in person, to make connections with similar people. They require no pre-registration and are open to all people, of any age group with any interest or connection with autism. It will be open for all ages, and anyone connected with the Autistic community are invited, including Autistic people, parent/carers, wider family members, professionals and any combination of these. There will be free drinks and snacks available for you, sensory items and some games to play too, should you wish to. The sessions also give people access to the Charity’s resources, where they can find support, advice and other help. On Saturday, we were delighted to hold our Autistic Workplace Support Session at King Square Community Centre Islington. The Charity is excited to be organising this important monthly initiative, providing autistic adults with one-to-one employment advice from our fantastic employment coaches. Alongside this, we ran a Speaking Circle where attendees asked about their concerns. This session we focused on reasonable adjustments for job interviews and how to navigate office politics while in employment. We swapped stories, shared life experiences and spoke about the problems and possible solutions. This event can be found in the calendar on the front page of our website, where you can find the link to register for a place. This Sunday (27th September), London Autism Group Charity have a Community Café session for the Autistic Community in South Woodford. This will be happening on the last Sunday of every month at 1pm-3pm at St Mary's Church (207 High Road, South Woodford E18 2PA). The Community Cafés provide a safe, inclusive, accessible and free space for the entire Autistic community to meet up in person. In doing so, we are better able to make connections with people who share our lived experiences and understand our point of view. These drop in sessions require no pre-registration and are open to all people, of any age group with any interest or connection with autism. Anyone connected with the Autistic community is invited, including Autistic people (children and adults) , parent/carers, and wider family members. You do not need an official Autism diagnosis. There will be free drinks and snacks available for you, sensory items and some games to play too, should you wish to. The sessions also give people access to the Charity’s resources, where they can find support, advice and other help. There will be an optional session of Music Therapy, which is especially enjoyable for children, and is beneficial for people with Learning Disabilities or those who are anxious. This Sunday, 20th September we have our Old Street Community Café drop-in, between 11am and 1pm. This will be held at the Vibast Community Centre, 167 Old Street, Islington, London EC1V 9NH. No registration is required. Just drop by for a drink and snack, and a chat. Our friendly volunteers will be there to welcome you. The entire autistic community is welcome, including autistic people (all ages), parents and carers, family members, adults and children. As always, it's a great opportunity to meet and connect with members of the community who can relate, and share the same experiences. Then we shall walk through Wins Common down to Plumstead high street and then on to Plumstead Gardens. The walk is fully accessible but the down hill walk to the high street is a bit steep. BREAK: We will be having our mid walk break at the Slade cafe 342 Plumstead Common rd. SE18 2AJ. The cafe is fully accessible and has out door tables. FINISH: The walk finishes at Plumstead Gardens. The park is so nice you wouldn't believe that you are in Plumstead.

Today, it was our pleasure to be at Euston Station for a joint Public engagement exercise with the amazing British Transport Police. It was so good to speak with the Public about our Charity, the vital work of the @britishtransportpolice and on many important issues, which effect the London Autistic Community. On Saturday 12th September, London Autism Group Charity is holding our monthly Activity Day! It is taking place from 1:00pm - 4pm at the amazing Holy Sepulchre, Holborn Viaduct. There will be a creative art session, a low demand session of Music therapy, and relaxing Tai Chi to finish. There is the option of taking a VR tour of the venue and surrounding area for anyone who is interested to use the technology, as well as learn about the history of this area of the City. There will also be plenty of opportunities to meet new people, socialise, discuss your interests, or just play a game of uno and chill out. The Activity Days aim to further enrich the lives of the Autistic Community in London. This initiative, which is entirely free, will take place at the fantastic and accessible Holy Sepulchre Church in the City of London, Holborn Viaduct, London EC1A 2DQ, on a monthly basis.

Today we were delighted to host our Strolling with Neurokin meetup, part of our monthly initiative, offering calm, inclusive and accessible strolls through interesting parts of London. This afternoon’s stroll took us through Hyde Park and allowed us to share the wonderful sights and sounds of nature in the heart of London. We saw a lovely lake with several species of birds in it, and works of art in the form of statues along the way. We also made a welcome mid-way stop for coffee or ice cream for everyone. We finished up under a lovely huge willow tree. As always, the walk was fully wheelchair accessible, unhurried, and designed to feel relaxed and welcoming for everyone. Huge thanks to the wonderful Hazel @dashing.east for once again planning and leading such a thoughtful, inclusive route, and to our lovely volunteers for supporting the group throughout. A genuinely lovely way to spend an afternoon.
